As many of you may or may not know, for the last year or so I've had a.. preoccupation with body modification and body art, such as tattoos, piercings, and more recently, scarification. For those naive people out there who don't know, scarification is the process of putting scars on the body for decorative or ritual purposes.

For the last little while, I've been contemplating what kind of modification I want for myself, and I think I've settled on what I want. I plan on getting a surface piercing on the nape of my neck, a Star of David branding on my left bicep, and a BDSM emblem (see my avatar) tattoo on my right bicep. Those three are in my immediate plans, with an apadravya (vertical piercing through the glans of the penis) set for the future, depending on how much I like the other procedures.

My branding is the one I hope to get first, but I suspect that I'll end up having to get my nape and tattoo done before that, simply because I don't know of any local place that does brandings. I really want the branding because, for some reason, I feel that it will be the easiest. After all, I've burned myself before on accident, and it wasn't so bad. Sure, it was a pain for a few days, but big deal.

I can't really explain why I want to modify my body. It's difficult to say. I've wanted to get some sort of more extreme modification done for a while, but I don't know why. Maybe it's to prove something to myself. In any case, I want it done.
